Description
This maxillary expansion appliance provides , palatal expansion, upper first molar distal-buccal rotation and some actual molar distalization, plus providng occlusal stabilization. The temperature within the patient’s mouth activates movement of the heat-activated nickel titanium alloy wire toward the appliance’s pre-programmed shape. On younger patients, the mid-palatal suture is widened skeletally.
The appliance is always placed along with the brackets, bands and archwires so that the entire arch is often leveled and aligned when the expansion is complete at about 5 months.
Once the exact correction is achieved, the appliance stops expanding and lies passive.
The appliance affects predictable, optimal heat-activated NiTi forces immediately after insertion in the patient’s mouth, ensuring desirable result in a rapid but biologically safe manner.
There are no adjustments to be made by the patient or the Doctor; and no laboratory work.
It is easy to place and remove for the doctor.
